Vertical wood slat wall paneling in a contemporary hallway

Wall panel & cladding

Fluted wall panels, flat runs and curved columns.

Fluted paneling gives a wall vertical rhythm without the open gaps of slat. Crateworks supplies half-round, wave, and reeded profiles in wood veneer, color finish, or primed paintable surface, including flexible tambour panels that bend around columns, curved islands, and arches in one continuous run.

Flexible tambour versus rigid fluting

Two builds for two jobs. Flexible tambour panels sit on a bendable backing, so a single run wraps a column, a curved reception desk, or a rounded island end with no facet lines. Rigid half-round and wave profiles run flat walls and ceilings where straight lengths read cleanest.

Standard profile widths run from roughly 150mm rigid boards up to 500mm flexible sheets, in 2400mm and 2700mm lengths. Flute width and pitch can be cut to a reference profile.

Finish: veneer, color, or paint-ready

Wood veneer in oak, walnut, and specialty species for a natural grain. Durable color finishes in wood-grain or solid tones (white oak, black oak, walnut, greys, matte white and black, marble looks) when you want consistency with no maintenance. Or a primed paintable surface, finished on site to any custom color.

Finish-matched to the cabinetry and flooring palette so the fluted wall reads with the rest of the room as one specification, not a bolt-on.

Common questions

Half-round (the rounded reeded look that reads soft under light), wave (a deeper undulating profile), and square or rectangular reeding to a reference. Flexible tambour profiles bend around curves; rigid profiles run flat walls. Custom flute width and pitch to drawing.
Yes. Flexible tambour panels are built on a backing that bends to a radius, so they wrap columns, curved reception desks, rounded island ends, and arches in one continuous run. Rigid profiles are for flat walls. Tell us the radius and we confirm the panel against it.
Wood veneer (oak, walnut, and specialty species), durable color finishes in wood-grain or solid tones, and a primed paintable surface for any custom paint color. Painted and paintable options suit projects where a stained wood is not the call.
The flexible tambour panels carry a recycled-felt backing that adds sound absorption beyond a solid-backed panel. For a dedicated acoustic spec with documented NRC, the slat-wall line is the stronger choice; fluted is primarily a visual profile with modest acoustic benefit.
Adhesive plus finish nails over clean, level substrate; trim the end panel to fit. DIY-capable or run through your finish carpenter. Custom fluted runs are 8 to 12 weeks from approved order; stock profiles ship faster.
