Vertical wood slat wall paneling in a contemporary hallway

Wall panel & cladding

Slat wall panels, custom species and spacing.

Slat wall is the wall finish that anchors contemporary interiors: vertical wood slats spaced over an acoustic or solid backing. Crateworks supplies custom slat panels in oak, walnut, ash, painted finish, or any species and slat profile, sized to your wall run, with acoustic performance documentation when the application requires it.

Slat profile, spacing, backing

Slat profile: square, rectangular, triangular, or shaped to a reference. Standard slat width 20-50mm. Spacing (slat-to-slat gap) drives the visual rhythm: tight (20mm gap, dense texture), open (40-50mm gap, lighter feel).

Backing: acoustic felt (sound-absorbing for media rooms and offices), MDF painted to match the slats, or open back where the wall behind shows through.

Install method and acoustic rating

Panels ship in standard widths (~600mm or ~1200mm) cut to your wall height. Install over standard drywall with adhesive + finish nails along the slat tops, or onto Z-clip systems for removable applications.

Acoustic-backed panels carry NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) ratings, typically NRC 0.5-0.85 depending on slat density and backing thickness. Documentation supplied per order where commercial spec requires.

Common questions

Oak (white or red), walnut, ash, maple, hickory as standard. Specialty species (rift-and-quartered oak, sapele, teak) on request. Painted finishes in any RAL color when a stained wood is not the right call.
Both. Acoustic-backed panels use a felt or PET substrate behind the slats. The gaps let sound pass through to be absorbed by the backing. Non-acoustic panels mount over solid backing for pure visual effect.
Standard production widths 600mm or 1200mm. Height up to ~3000mm in one piece; taller walls seam at standard butt joints. Larger custom panels possible, confirm against the production capability before order.
Over standard drywall with adhesive + finish-nail attachment along the slat tops. For removable applications (rental fit-out, modular partitions), Z-clip mounting systems are supported. Install by your local carpenter or finish contractor.
Custom slat panels run 8 to 12 weeks from approved order. Stock-profile slat panels ship faster. Acoustic-rated panels with documentation add 1-2 weeks for testing paperwork.
