Custom dark wood kitchen cabinetry with integrated handles

Cabinets & millwork

Custom closet systems, built to the room.

A walk-in closet is a room you specify like any other: hanging fields, drawer banks, a center island, shoe storage, and lighting laid out to how the owner actually dresses. Crateworks supplies custom closet systems drawn to the room plan and finished to match the cabinetry and millwork across the rest of the project.

Layout: hanging, drawers, island, shoe storage

Plan the room in zones. Long-hang and double-hang fields for garments, drawer banks for folded items, open or glass-front shelving for display, and a center island that doubles as a packing surface with drawers below. A closet island with drawers is the piece that turns a walk-in into a dressing room.

Integrated shoe storage runs as angled shelves, flat racks, or lit display niches inside the same system, sized to the collection. Built-in LED on the rods and in the niches lights the contents without a separate fixture run.

Finish, lighting, and leather-lined details

Same finish range as the kitchen and wardrobe lines: lacquer in any color, real-wood veneer in any species, paint or stain. Hardware family matched to the project. Glass-front and push-to-open fronts for a clean dressing-room read.

Upgrade details: genuine leather-lined drawers and jewelry inserts, velvet ring and watch trays, valet rods, and integrated watch and jewelry storage. See the dedicated watch and jewelry storage page for motorized and hidden options.

Specialty drawers, valet rod, and architectural detail

The detail layer is what separates a storage closet from a dressing room. A pull-out valet rod stages tomorrow's outfit. Specialty drawers are built to what they hold: shallow wide drawers for scarves, vertical pull-outs for pants, suede-lined inserts for sunglasses, tie and belt drawers, and watch and cufflink trays inside a standard drawer.

Back panels are a finish choice in their own right: back-painted glass, felt, leather, or mirror behind open shelving. And the millwork can carry architectural accents, fluted columns at the island, crown to the ceiling, matched to the cabinetry elsewhere in the home.

Common questions

A wardrobe is a built-in cabinet against a bedroom wall. A closet system fits out a dedicated walk-in room: hanging fields, drawer banks, shelving, an island, and shoe storage planned across all four walls. If you have the room, the closet system organizes at a larger scale.
Yes. A center island with drawers below and a stone or wood top is a standard option. It stores folded items and accessories, gives a packing and display surface, and anchors the room. Island size is set by the floor plan with clearance for the surrounding runs.
Integrated into the same system: angled open shelves, flat adjustable shelves, or lit display niches for a featured collection. Sized to the count, with LED where the shoes are on show. No separate freestanding rack needed.
Yes. Genuine leather-lined drawers, velvet ring and watch trays, and jewelry organizer inserts are available as upgrades. For motorized watch winders and hidden jewelry storage built into the system, see the watch and jewelry storage page.
Yes. Most closet projects come through an interior designer, architect, or builder, and that is the ideal path. We work from your drawings or a designer-spec set, line-item the cost, and coordinate the closet with the rest of the project. See the trade program for designer and builder pricing.
10 to 14 weeks from approved shop drawings to delivery. Systems with islands, motorized features, or integrated electronics add 2 to 3 weeks.
