Built for Scottsdale’s climate
Scottsdale's dry heat moves wood the opposite direction humidity does: instead of swelling, panels and solid wood components can shrink and check if the substrate and moisture content are not matched to the climate before the box ever leaves for the desert. The finish carries its own job in a home built around the glass walls above it, direct sun through that much glazing will fade a poor finish and yellow a cheap clear coat within a couple of years. Formaldehyde limits matter for a different reason here: these are sealed, air-conditioned homes, so the panels are sourced to US EPA TSCA Title VI (CARB Phase 2) limits as the floor, not the ceiling, of what we will spec.

Why it suits Scottsdale
Semi-custom is the wrong category for most of what Scottsdale's builders and designers are drawing. A fully custom box, sourced factory-direct, is what makes an oversized island, a paneled refrigerator wall, or a full wine room actually pencil against a real budget, because the money is going into the joinery and finish instead of a showroom's per-linear-foot markup on a stock door style.
