Freestanding tub and wall-mounted brushed brass tap

Bathtubs, freestanding to alcove.

A tub is the bathroom's largest single fixture and the room's design decision. Crateworks supplies freestanding, soaking, alcove, and drop-in tubs across cast iron, acrylic, and stone-resin materials, paired with the tap and shower system as one bath package.

Type: freestanding, soaking, alcove, drop-in

Freestanding: tub stands alone on the bathroom floor, all four sides finished. The contemporary statement tub. Soaking: deeper than standard (17-22" depth vs 14") for full immersion. Alcove: standard three-wall surround, most common, smaller bathroom footprint. Drop-in: tub installed into a custom platform, fully enclosed.

Material: cast iron, acrylic, stone resin

Cast iron: heaviest, longest-lasting, holds heat well. Stays warm during long soaks. Requires reinforced subfloor. Acrylic: lighter, mid-tier price, manufactured at scale. Stone resin (composite of crushed stone + resin): contemporary look, holds heat better than acrylic, lighter than cast iron.

Drain location, overflow placement, and tap configuration (deck-mount, wall-mount, floor-mount) specified per tub.

Common questions

Freestanding for primary baths above 7 ft x 8 ft where the tub becomes a design centerpiece. Alcove for tight bathrooms: the surround sits inside a recessed nook. Drop-in works when the tub is enclosed in a custom platform.
Standard tubs are 14-15 inches deep. Water sits at hip height when seated. Soaking tubs are 17-22 inches deep. Water covers shoulders. Specify depth on order; soaking depth is the contemporary expectation for primary bathrooms.
Cast iron lasts longest and holds heat best, but requires reinforced subfloor and is the most expensive. Acrylic is the standard mid-tier: lighter, cheaper, less heat retention. Stone resin balances: heat retention close to cast iron, weight closer to acrylic, contemporary look.
Floor-mount taps stand alone from the floor next to the tub. Drama, but requires plumbing rough-in through the floor. Wall-mount taps sit in the wall behind the tub, cleaner. Deck-mount taps sit on the tub deck, most common for drop-in installations.
Stock-spec tubs ship in 4-8 weeks. Custom-color or material tubs run 10-14 weeks. Specialty hand-finished cast iron tubs (claw-foot, period reproduction) depend on foundry queue.
