Bifold & Accordion Patio Doors
A bifold patio door is a set of glass panels hinged together that fold back on themselves to open an entire wall, turning a glazed opening into a clear span to a deck or garden. Crateworks builds bifold doors in thermally-broken aluminum, sized to your opening, for renovation and replacement projects.
Best for: Openings you want fully cleared, not just partly slid open, connecting a living space to a patio or garden.

Open cold-climate canada →Common questions
- What is the difference between a bifold and a sliding door?
- A sliding door always leaves at least one panel across the opening, since panels slide past each other. A bifold folds its panels flat to one or both sides, so it can clear almost the entire opening. Bifolds open wider; sliders are simpler and need less stacking space.
- Where do bifold panels stack when open?
- The panels fold against each other and swing to one or both ends of the opening, stacking in a shallow zone beside the frame. That stacking area needs clearance, which we check against your layout before building.
- How many panels can a bifold door have?
- Panel count is set by the opening width and how you want the doors to stack, to one side or split to both. Crateworks sizes the set to your opening so the panels fold cleanly. We confirm the configuration on quote.
- Do these doors carry weather and structural certifications?
- We frame our exterior doors for renovation and replacement, and we only state a specific certification once the supplier has furnished the test documentation in writing. Requirements like water-tightness and wind-load vary by location. Tell us where the project is and we will confirm what we can document before you order.
