Why Crateworks

  • Triple-pane LowE argon IGU as the standard build, not an upcharge option. Most Passive House projects need this spec; we built the line around it.
  • Whole-unit U-factor reported per opening for the PHPP or WUFI Passive calculation. Cert PDFs ship with the submittal.
  • Multi-point lock hardware standard on tilt-turn and bifold. Continuous perimeter gasket delivers airtightness at the unit level.
  • Source-direct on the high-performance spec. No dealer premium on triple-pane LowE.

Common questions

What U-factor do you reach on triple-pane?
Whole-unit U-factor as low as 0.18 on fixed picture configurations and 0.22 on tilt-turn. Specific values depend on size, IGU build, and frame profile; the project quote returns the rated value per opening.
Are these windows PHI or PHIUS certified?
Crateworks does not currently carry product-level PHI or PHIUS certification. The NFRC ratings on individual products feed the PHPP or WUFI Passive calculation that determines project certification. Project consultants run the calc against our NFRC numbers to confirm compliance.
What about airtightness at the unit level?
Multi-point lock hardware and continuous perimeter gasket deliver airtight performance per ASTM E283 testing. Specify multi-point lock on every operable unit for the Passive House airtightness target. Whole-building airtightness depends on install detail and is the consultant's domain.
Can you handle the thermal bridging at the install?
Yes through coordination with the project consultant. We supply continuous insulation install drawings and our frame profile is designed to land in a thermally-broken frame condition. The on-site detail is the installer's responsibility.
